After using this utility yesterday I find all dial up settings altered and have been unable to select "remember password" or "connect automatically" in the dial up requester box. The computer also fails to ask a user to log on and supply a password when booting up. So far I have been unable to rectify either of these problems........so where to now? | 76283 | 2002-09-04 04:29:00 | I had a look at that programme, and i see no reason why it should have effected your network settings. I think the more likely scenario is that someone has been on your computer and tinkered with some settings. Your problems can be fixed by playing around with the network settings in the control panel. Do a search on this site for info, or see if there is a faq covering your problem. |

No one else used the computer because I was sitting over it the entire time, the first time it altered settings. And no amount of tinkering in network settings or anywhere else has resolved the problem. My ISP help desk could not offer a fix and neither could my computer vendor's helpdesk....so I am still in the dark......even Goback is of no help since Powerdefrag's operations suspended the Goback log.........aaUGH! | 76288 | 2002-09-04 06:28:00 | Graham, no it was not in safe mode, but NOTHING else was touched whilst it was defragging . . . . I am the ONLY user of this machine . . . . . . . . it was locked up all alone during the night whilst it defragged . I should add that I had two attempts at defragging with this utility . The first I had to cancel to use the puter . That time it also altered dial up settings but I could restore them . It also altered my desktop settings (like appearance for example) but I could reset that . The full defrag took place overnight, as I said, in a securely locked office which appeared safe and sound next morning . I can't explain it, but it DID happen! . . . . . . any more ideas anyone????? |
