| 76716 | 2002-09-05 08:11:00 | I have had to reinstall the OS for my computer after installing a 2nd hand motherboard and CPU (Gigabyte GA-6VXE+ and Intel PIII 650 slot 1). After installing Roxio Easy CD Creator, it will not recognizes the CD Writer at all. I have updated the BIOS, and this has had no effect. I have also install Windows Service Packs 1 and 2, also to no effect. The CD Writer is the primary drive on the secondary IDE channel. I have looked at the HP site, Gigabyte site, VIA site (it's their chipset that runs the motherboard), again with no results. Any ideas? |

| 76718 | 2002-09-05 12:49:00 | I too many moons ago experienced this strange problem. What the fault is that windows media player installs unpon default a cd creator plugin so you can burn cds from windows media player 7. This for some reason just does not want to join the party and creates as you have found major headaches when someone installs easycd creator! To Fix the problem Uninstall both media player 7 from add/remove programs. (make sure the whole program is removed, no plugins left behind) and the whole easy cd package as well. After rebooting you should find your cdrw and cdrom in my computer now with no exclmation marks!. Ok now to install these products so that can can co-exist together. 1) Install easy cd creator package. Apply all the necceray updates from the roxio web site. (www.roxio.com) 2) Now comes installing media player (This can also be installed from upgrading ie to v6 from the latest Pc world cover disk). Choose a custom install. Scroll down through the plugins remove the tick next to adaptec create cd plugin. After rebooting you will find that your cdrw is still in explorer and that the easy cd package and media player playing are co-existing together quite well Jess |
