76685 2002-09-05 07:13:00 I have lots of old video tapes. Some clog up my video player because of
mildew. Before they all go bad, I thought about copying the
still good ones to DVD but that's too expensive (writer + the disks).
So I guess I can tolerate a tape copied to several CDs instead.

Can anyone tell me whats required in the way of hardware (I have a
CD writer) and software for both the transfer and playback to a TV?

Also, how many CDs per hour of tape (low quality OK)?

Thanks.

76686 2002-09-05 07:56:00 Video Capture card should do the trick. you should be able to connect you Video machine to the card, capture the video, and then save it into a format that can be read by DVD players VCD. the format is MPEG if I remeber correctly. The CD writing software should be able to set up the CD to automaticly load when put in to a DVD player NathanTheKind (472)
