i would ideally like to run 2 operating systems 1) Linux and 2) windows

is that possible?

Any modern linux distro will let you do it.

76615 2002-09-05 06:33:00 Have a browse in the Linux Documentation (dunedin.lug.net.nz). In the Guides section have a good read of the "Getting Started" one, towards the end. It's a bit dated, but it is a very good introduction to the OS.

Also, to your specific question: this HOWTO (dunedin.lug.net.nz) is worth a look.

If you have a CD set for Linux, the documentation files can be read from within Windows systems.
