2002-09-05 03:18:00 | Hibernation was disabled kindly by WinME a wee while ago. As it failed to resume a couple of times. I have now fixed the problem that was causing hibernation to not resume. However i no longer have the hibernation feature in the power mgmt options. I have had a search on the internet, Pressf1 and MicrosoftDB and google but i failed to find anything that explained how to reenable hibernation when its not avaliable in power options Does anybody know how to do this?

2002-09-05 04:31:00 | You set power management to 'laptop'? | SoniKalien (792) | |
2002-09-05 05:31:00 | Try this. START - RUN - type "nohiber.txt" (without the quotation marks). You may get an answer. If you have installed a Soundblaster audio card, you will usually lose Hibernate also. Tom.

2002-09-05 09:00:00 | nohiber txt points out as i have that it no longer goes as it failed to resume from hibernation 2 times. and no it is not a laptop, just a standard desktop surely there must be something in the registry i can change to bring it back?

2002-09-05 10:33:00 | Go Start, and choose Settings, Control Panel. Double-click on the Power Options icon and choose Properties. There you can enable hibernation. The next time you shut down, the Hibernate option should be available in your Shut Down menu.

2002-09-05 10:36:00 | It *should* have only disabled it, and not removed it. If its totally gone, try a Repair using run- sfc /scannow | godfather (25) | |
2002-09-05 10:38:00 | yea it is totally removed. It hasn't been there for about 3 or 4 months now, so doing an sfc /scannow will be no good. also i don't have sfc. thats a win98 thing isn't it. im on winME

2002-09-05 10:55:00 | Well, it works for me on XP.....never had to try it on ME, so never looked into it. Mind you never found much software that *liked* being put into hibernation either, all sorts of errors cropped up, some surprisingly a while after resuming. Things like cursors disappearing, lockups etc. All was sweet when I stopped using it.
