77100 2002-09-06 12:00:00 After installing a new PCI video card the following 2 messages keep on appearing after start up:

"The MSVCP60.DLL file is linked to missing export MSVCRT.DLL:_lc_collate.cp."

"Error in 3dfxv2ps.dll missing entry UpdateRegSettings"

After closing both message windows down the computer seems to work without any proplems, my OS 98SE. Any ideas please?

77101 2002-09-06 12:32:00 hi fritz -

By chance, are you running Microsoft Visio 2000?

there's an Microsoft article [url=http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q281576)here[/url] that hopefully will resolve this problem.

I'd first ensure the PCI card has been properly within the PCI brace.

if it already is, then perhaps during the software installation the PCI card over wrote some existing files, as you note, during the origination installation?

If the answer to my first question is yes then maybe my hunch is right.

If not, you still win because checking point one, not doing any further for point two and instead going ahead with point three still gets you ahead.

If not, I'll eat my car

77102 2002-09-06 13:15:00 You need to (re)install the MS visual basic 6 runtimes. SoniKalien (792)
77103 2002-09-06 13:16:00 well a stab in the dark is you had a voodoo2 video card and didn't remove the 3dfx drivers and apps. tweak'e (174)
77104 2002-09-06 13:59:00 Thanks everyone for your suggestions. No I am not running MS Visio 2000. Yes I got a Voodo 2 video card, ad still use it together with the new PCI card, the two cards are connecten with a cable at the back. If I take the Voodoo card out my Cue Club Snooker game, and some other 3D games don't work properly. Sorry SoniKalien would you please explain how to reinstall the MS visual basic 6 runtimes, - thanks.

77105 2002-09-06 23:39:00 Download and run this (www.tucows.co.nz) program. SoniKalien (792)
77106 2002-09-06 23:52:00 vbrun60sp5.exe (www.microsoft.com) its also on pc world disks.....err....somewhere;-)

it also may pay to remove the 3dfx apps/drivers and reinstall them.

whats the new video card you installed?

77107 2002-09-07 02:06:00 Thanks SoniKalien and Tweak'e have run the programme you suggested and also reinstalled the Voodoo drivers. Unfortunately the two error messages are still appearing after start-up. Meanwhile I just have to close them down and carry on regardless, - the computer functions perfectly as far as I can tell. Thanks again anyway. Bye

77108 2002-09-07 03:26:00 Sorry Tweak'e forgot to mention what sort of video card I installed, - it's a "SiS 6326 Multimedia VGA Controller". :-)
