| 76950 | 2002-09-06 07:26:00 | I have an older system and wish to upgrade. My main concerns at this stage are the motherboard and cpu. Can anyone give me some suggestions about a new motherboard and compatible cpu. I have read so many reviews I can't make a decision. I am going to be mainly using the machine for games and multi media applications and would like to purchase something not 'top end' but sorta close to it as best value for money is rather important at this stage.I have Geforce 2 64MB and will consider upgrading this in the future. I am confused about some reviews I have read in the 'PC World" Top 10 dream machines. Such as an Athlon xp2000+ obtaining a higher benchmark than a P4-2530. Now I know that FBS and L2 cache are important factors and the athlon has the lowest spec but gets the highest score, (I am confused). |

| 76952 | 2002-09-07 00:07:00 | I have a Microstar M6TBA mobo and running a celeron 466 cpu. Basically I'm buying a new case, power supply, HD, mobo, cpu and fitting my existing floppy, cd/rw and graphics card. I don't think I can afford the new P4 with 533MHz system bus but I want a mobo that will be compatable with those spec's later when the chips get cheaper.I will prob go for the P4 2.0 400MHz (northwood). As for the mobo something that will be able to take the latest Intel chips and supporting DDR 333 and RDRAM(if thats possible). How do I know if the mobo will support the upcoming 3GHz P4? |
