| 76919 | 2002-09-06 01:26:00 | How do I get MIDI files from HTML's to auto play? Is this a file association problem and how do I fix? It would seem I auto open to Windows Media Player when I need Music Media Player. |

Is that right? If so, then yes it is a file association matter and if you go to our FAQ on this topic you will find out how to fix it. Either click on the FAQ link at the top right of this page and go to FAQ #13 or click here (pressf1.co.nz). If that doesn't solve your problem post back here again for more advice. |

| 76921 | 2002-09-06 04:53:00 | Hi Susan B, No they will not open directly in anything! I can run them by selecting the file in Music media player, but not in Windows Media Player. (I dont mind were thay run from as long as they run!) Typically when I recieve an Email with Picture + Music in *.mid format. In fact, I cannot run any *.mid files via Windows Media Player although MIDI is checked on in OPTIONS > FORMATS. Any Ideas?? |

| 76922 | 2002-09-06 06:23:00 | Hmm, well I can't offer much more advice myself, as my system isn't running as it should be at the moment and I can't play midi files either. :-( If you are wanting to hear music in your emails it is possible that your email security settings are set to prevent the midi files from playing. You can check by opening Outlook Express (presuming that is what you use) and going to Tools>Options>Security and looking at whether the setting is Internet Zone or Restricted Zone. If it is the latter, try changing it to the former. If this fixes it you will need to change it back again after listening to the music otherwise you have little protection from nasty emails coming through. If that is not the solution, another thing to try is to uninstall Windows Multimedia and then reinstall it. You can do that in Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Windows Setup and remove the tick from Multimedia. Reboot your machine then go back and re-tick it again, with your Windows installation disk in the CD drive. Hopefully one of those suggestions will do the trick but if anyone else has other advice I'm sure they'll offer it. Let us know how you get on. |
