2002-09-07 05:21:00 | You've uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2000, what about reinstalling Win98? That might be worth a try. | Susan B (19) | |
2002-09-07 06:23:00 | Hi again Dave. OK, so you have ruled out a problem with just one of your office applications and confirmed that the files/reg settings for the clipart files appears to be the sole problem. Instead of doing a full re-install of office there is the option to do a repair in the first menu on the CD autorun - try that. Also if you click Add/Remove features you can go to office tools and select Clipart then remove these files. Do that, reboot then install these files again by selecting them again from the CD. Also, there is a service pack for Office 2k - have you installed this? Hang in there, we might solve this yet :-)

2002-09-07 06:56:00 | mmm on re-reading your post again you mention a problem with Outlook that doesnt relate to a clipart problem. This would suggest a problem with the install of office in general. Still try my suggestions in prev post. You have done all the logical things like uninstalling, reinstalling and applying SP (see that in your first post now). We have a few more error messages to go on now so someone might find fix for one of these.

2002-09-07 07:27:00 | Ok heres a few links to look at. Outlook error support.microsoft.com See that this mentions SR1a ... did you install this or just SR1. Go to office update ... office.microsoft.com Winword errors support.microsoft.com also see support.microsoft.com about command line switches for word. Switch a and r may be useful. Thats enough to get you started for now :-)

2002-09-07 21:16:00 | I've just tried DCOM98.exe from the Microsoft website, that didn't seem to work either. I've been looking around the net and it seems to be happening to quite a few, just randomly. I'm looking through the Microsoft Office update site and gonna download every update possible :S gonna take a while on a 33k modem ;) Well i'll get back to you guys, thanks a heap, a heap for the support, I think i would have gone crazy if you guys hadn't been able to help! Thanks again, I will get back - David

2002-09-08 06:43:00 | ARGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH i've just tried SP1A again, added the clipart fix on the office website and nothing!!!! *bangs head on desk* I'm running out of ideas, i'm thinking of for some *strange* reason it has something to do with Internet Explorer 5.5 so i'll try reinstalling that. Now if that doesn't work I have absolutly no idea, i think i'll have to format cos i really do need clipart :( But even then, this problem just seemed to randomly happen and could possibly happen again :( its all very confusing... If anyone has any other ideas, please tell me, i really need to fix this, your help would be very much appreciated. - David

2002-09-08 07:00:00 | Bugger. Like you I always want to know "why it happened" to avoid crap in the future. Can you remember when this started occuring - was it after you installed IE5.5? Have to admit I am running out of ideas. I always see a Windows reinstall or, gulp, format then reinstall as the last resort but you may have to invoke PC genocide to resolve it. :-(

2002-09-08 20:46:00 | Hi again . . . Yeah this is a real problem, i've tried installing IE6, nothing, i'm gonna unistall as much as IE as 98 will let me :( this is a really weird problem, I'm sure it has happened to many people looking at some of the posts on the net and still no fix . I suppose if worst comes to worst and i have to format, i've got a couple of weeks off soon, although i don't really feel much like it cos i did it a couple of months ago (try getting a 15gb hard-drive to run on a 133, its an annoying process ;) ) Anyways, thanks for the continued support - David

| 77093 | 2005-03-09 15:38:00 | I know this particular post is very old, however I''ve run into the same problem since and search the web high and low to find out how to fix this without formating the system and starting again. If you cannot use windows updates properly because it never works properly and you experience this clipart rpc dll error you need to download from this link download.microsoft.com It's the mcrepair tool, it's replaces specific dll's that are causing the rpc problems.
