| 77442 | 2002-09-07 21:54:00 | Despite the derision voiced here, towards people who want to make local phone calls through their PC and modem, there are many advantages. Your PC already holds all your phone numbers. It can be hands free for those of us who make many phone calls a day (a much cheaper option than buying a hands free headset phone when we have already laid out two grand on a computer. And besides, why the hell not? SO DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO DO IT? I have tried PC-Telephone and other Web-to-PC software but it isn't really satisfactory. The problem seems to be finding software that can use PSTN or POTS with a Data/Fax/voice Modem. Any Ideas? |

You may need an ISA or external modem for voice, I am not entirely sure that PCI support it. Thats a guess though, as later PCI equipped PCs did not have the software. However I gave up using it, as without a headset it was very bad accoustically for the party at the other end, as it makes you sound like you are in a tin can. Instead I use a $50 headset phone. |
