| 77379 | 2002-09-07 10:40:00 | I seem to have forgotten (never set???) my admin password. What is recommended for the recovery of this. I couldn't seem to see alot when I did a google, well stuff that's free anyway. I have admin rights to the computer, just not the administrator password. I'm very surprised that it isn't what I always have my standard passwords as. |

| 77381 | 2002-09-07 11:27:00 | If you are a user with an administrator rights Then whats the problem? There is no way to retrieve the admin password of the admin for obvious reasons. ie..They may no longer wish to have you with admin rights.. and may want to revert you to a humble user... The only way (i know of) is to rewrite the administator password and unfortunately this can be done with all XP/win2k and NT. This is available via a linux boot disk which will rewrite the admin password. Drop a email I will post it ==orac== |

| 77383 | 2002-09-07 12:02:00 | You could try www.astalavista.com for a utility or something that'll allow you to reset the admin password. I think I saw one there once. Mike. Disclaimer: I will not be held responsible for ANYTHING found at that site. |

| 77385 | 2002-09-12 03:51:00 | Hey -=JM=-, I found this which I thought might be useful incase you forget your password again: Create a Password Reset Disk ============================ If youre running Windows XP Professional as a local user in a workgroup environment, you can create a password reset disk to log onto your computer when you forget your password . To create the disk: Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click User Accounts . Click your account name . Under Related Tasks, click Prevent a forgotten password . Follow the directions in the Forgotten Password Wizard to create a password reset disk . Store the disk in a secure location, because anyone using it can access your local user account Mike . |
