Nvidia NV30 in Q1 next year
The Public Relations director of nVidia has posted an official reply to a story featured at The Inquirer (www.theinquirer.net) below. In his relpy, he stated the following:
Over the next 6 months, we will be making a quantum leap forward in our technology. The next generation GPU requires the capabilities of 0.13 micron process. With 0.13um (micron), our architects and engineers have made a quantum leap in algorithms and for the first time, enable cinematic rendering in real-time. We believe we are well ahead of our competition in making this important jump to 0.13um and cinematic rendering. This next generation GPU is targeted to be available for the holiday season.

New NV30 Details
Vr-Zone has posted more details from nVidia on the NV30. Here's the word form David Kirk, nVidia's chief scientist:
The NV30 is described as a full floating point processor with thousands of instructions and a high level language. For the past years, NVIDIA main focus is on improving the GPU speed rather than designing a complicated pipe but for NV30, things will change. CineFX architecture work in conjunction with Cg programming language will make NV30 a fully programmable GPU with flexible instructions for vertex and pixel processing. It is expected that Microsoft will probably start supporting CineFX architecture with DirectX 9.1 therefore NV30 may be based on DirectX 9.1 when launched.

Asus A7V8X Review at Anandtech
Anandtech (http://www.anandtech.com)has posted a review of ASUS's first KT400 motherboard the A7V8X. Here's a snip from the review:
Once we started testing the A7V8X we started to see that, for the most part, the motherboard lived up to our expectations. However, clearly DDR400 performance isn't all that exciting; in fact, it falls behind its own DDR333 performance numbers in addition to other DDR333-powered boards. VIA's P4PB 400 (P4X400) Pentium 4 motherboard suffers from the same issues.

New Nokia 3650 based on Series 60 platform
Nokia has shown off their new 3650 mobile phone that is to be released early next year. The new phone is quite radical in it's look, as seen in the picture below, and will be based on the 60 series of phones platform. Here are some of the nitty gritty details on the new phones:
The introduction of the Nokia 3650 today clearly marks the beginning of a new era for the Series 60, the software platform of choice for developing and deploying applications that harness multimedia messaging, content downloading and browsing in a small and dynamic package. The Nokia 3650 is the first product to give the Series 60 platform global availability by operating wherever there are GSM 900/1800/1900 GPRS networks available throughout Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas.

"The Nokia 3650 is the next must-have device that defines what an imaging phone must do," said Jouko Hayrynen, Vice President, Forum Nokia, Nokia’s global developer program. "It will captivate the consumer market and introduce mobile messaging to new consumers young and old. For all of us, our first mobile phone completely changed how we communicate. This phone, we feel, will reshape the market in the very same way."

The Series 60 is a software platform designed for smart phones characterized by color screens, rich communications and enhanced applications. The software platform consists of key telephony and personal information management applications, browser, messaging clients and a complete and modifiable user interface.

Windows XP Tweaking Guide
Neoseeker have posted up a new Windows XP Tweaking Guide (www.neoseeker.com) for everyone's viewing. Here's a snip:
I have broken this guide into 6 parts. Networking, file system, memory performance, freeing up memory, startup/shutdown and then the other stuff. I've tried to pack as much performance related tweaking here as I can but there's always more to be uncovered. I will update this article as frequently as possible. I know there's a million tweaks that I'm missing here but I am trying to keep this guide dedicated to tweaks that directly affect your performance. I'll put together a second guide about the annoyances and other things but keep in mind this is ONLY performance stuff. If you know of something that affects the performance quite a bit and it's not listed here please post a thread in our Windows forum.
Although this guide is mostly no different to the squillions of other XP tweaking guides out there, I did find a few tweaks that were new and the fact it is separated into 6 parts is also handy.
