77352 2002-09-07 06:38:00 I have linux on a drive in my XP machine (Xp on one drive, Linux on the other)... I'm wanting to halve the size of the drive Linux is on to use more for XP. Can I use Partition magic to change/resize/create partitions on the Linux drive without annoying Linux at all?

Mike.

77353 2002-09-07 09:07:00 I just read a post that was by loser (??) that was saying that it doesn't work well with linux.

I think the linux partitioner should be able to do it though.

77354 2002-09-07 10:06:00 Does Linux let you partition without needing to reformat?

77355 2002-09-07 10:36:00 I would think Partition Magic would be able to do what you want. I think PM after version 4 support Linux quite well. I have PM 7 Pro of this excellent utility. I haven't altered the size of my Linux partition since I installed it so I can't say for certain that it will work OK. I did a search on the PM site for "Linux partitions". Something here might help you: Linux Partitions (www.powerquest.com) Rod J (451)
77356 2002-09-07 10:36:00 I have no idea. I'd wait for Graham L.... :D

But when you install it it manages to partition with out losing the windows data so I think it must be able to.

77357 2002-09-07 10:56:00 did something similar to this (and more) a few months ago without a glitch, indeed also experimented successfully with Partition Manager. Always backup your valuable data first, when this kind of s/w makes a mistake it's usually ugly. rob2pearson (1802)
