77506 2002-09-08 01:19:00 I have installed Adaware - but yet to have scanned my system with it.

One question: How do I know what programs that Adaware picks up, are safe to delete. I have seen comments here that you have to be careful what you delete, as some of them are important it to running of the OS.

Is there a web site somewhere that lists everything. I have one for the start-up menu, but one that explains all the program abbreviations would be brilliant.

I am going to do a purge on my redundant programs this evening and am gleefully looking forward to ridding my computer of the nasties

Thanks for any suggestions, BALDY:-)

77507 2002-09-08 01:34:00 hi baldy,
i have been using adaware for some time now and have deleted everything it has found with no problems. the first time i ran it it came up with 200+ so dont be surprised if you have a lot of spyware.

77508 2002-09-08 01:44:00 The only one I have encountered was the cydoor file when I was running Kazaa, deleting this one will stop kazaa from working. If you do run the full version of kazaa go here (dipstick01,hostnz.co.nz) to get the fake cydoor .dll and another good site to check out is spychecker (http://www.spychecker.com/) a site for checking out whether a program has spyware or not. dipstick01 (445)
77509 2002-09-08 02:36:00 Hi Baldy,

As previously posted,Yes you can delete everything it finds, and
it pays to run it a second time to make sure it got all the little
nasties!

Empty your Temp IE content files first to make AdAware's easier

Cheers,Kiwitas,;)

77511 2002-09-09 08:41:00 AdAware will give you the option to back-up anything it finds, before you delete it. Craigb (688)
