77467 2002-09-08 00:19:00 have searched through all the numerous messages re this topic. But none seem to answer my particular query. Have win 98 and Media player v. 6.4. Have recently had a power supply burn out on our old computer and have had to upgrade to a new one. Previously I could access radio stations with no problem. But since getting the new computer back from the technician I cannot get any joy out of connecting to what I used to. I downloaded mediaPlayer 7.1 from Windows Update but it seemed to freeze up the CD Rom drive so I uninstalled it.
My weekly fix of Macca on Sunday from the ABC has become a sudden cold turkey. I am devastated! help!

77468 2002-09-08 01:35:00 Were you using the bookmark function in Media Player ?? If so, have you tried initialising the stream from ABC's website? antmannz (28)
77469 2002-09-08 03:15:00 yes I tried every which way. How do you mean initialise abc? poppy (552)
77470 2002-09-08 04:06:00 Also make sure you anti-virus and/or firewall aren't interferring with things - that's a common one, but I tend to forget it from time to time.

Cheers

77471 2002-09-08 05:06:00 You can click on a link in ABC's web-site to launch Media Player and start playing the stream. I was wondering if perhaps you had a link saved in Media Player and it had become "out-of-date". antmannz (28)
77472 2002-09-08 05:21:00 yes thanks that was one of the things I did. This was on media Player 7 (which i have since uninstalled) it is all still a mystery but I'm hoping to get to the bottom of it eventually. I'll keep watching and thanks for your help poppy (552)
77473 2002-09-08 05:22:00 thanks for the suggestion, how do I look those possibilities up? (I am a thick geriatric delinquent) poppy (552)
77474 2002-09-08 05:44:00 Poppy, just had a thought .... can you hear any sound through your speakers??

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Sounds. Highlight some of the sounds and hit the Play button to test whether your sound card is working.

77475 2002-09-08 06:02:00 yes I am getting sound. Have played a music CD to test it, am getting new mail noises when they arrive so I guess that's OK poppy (552)
