| 77851 | 2002-09-09 04:32:00 | I have an Asus 4816A "High Speed" CD Recorder/Rewriter . The trouble is that when I insert a blank disc the drive doesn't pick it up . It was suggested that the Roxio drivers with XP were not the best so I updated them but that did not help . Some blank discs work and others don't and the ones that work . . . once they have been written to I can't read them in either one of my CD-Rom or Recorder drive . I am pretty sure it's a disc compatibility problem as I am able to read/write/erase CDRW discs just fine without any hassle . Does anyone know of a decent brand of disc that will possibly work in my drive, I've tried TDK, Ricoh even good ol' Warehouse Transonic CD-R's but still I've come up with nothing . Is there anything wrong with the drive? Any ideas are welcome? I need help . OS: Windows XP Pro CPU: Celeron 1 . 0Ghz RAM: 640MB Cd Recording Software: Nero 5 . 5 . 9 . 9, CloneCD 4 . 1 . 10 (the latest versions of both these programs) |

One would be led to assume there is an area that they do a small test write/read on . If this is the case, it suggests their is an irregularity with the drive, and the laser setting for CDRW is all that works? The dye used in CDRW disks is certainly different to CDR . |
