| 77794 | 2002-09-08 21:19:00 | Have successfully used previous GoBack software (2.x) under Win95-SR2 and Win98-SE, and been happy with what I could achieve with it (i.e. about 2 weeks history). Recently bought latest GoBack version for XP (vs 3.11.59), installed on XP computer (40GB partitioned [c;d] hard drive; 512 RAM; 1.8GHz) and at best have about 24 hrs history. This is with having set aside 3.8GB for GoBack. GoBack's autorevert function is turned off, rebooting does not seem to affect history much, and the 6-24 hr history is with no software installs/removal but just "data writing" (Excel/Word/web development etc). Also loose history completely when using Norton Utilities 2002 defrag even though I have made "\**\gobackio.bin" unmovable. In the past this was sufficient with previous GoBack versions to maintain history fully. Have contacted Roxio but they were very slow responding and with no solutions so far. Noticed their bulletin boards are full of problems similar to mine. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks! Cheers, Peter D |

| 77798 | 2002-09-09 01:42:00 | the only thing i can suggest it to put it on c:, assumeing c is on the faster part of the hardrive. i had problems with it when it was installed on the end partition, mainly major slow down due to it writing on the slow part of the disk. i wonder if your problem is more to with XP ?:| |

| 77799 | 2002-09-10 07:34:00 | Installed it on c drive but has unfortunately not made any difference. Agree that it must have something to do with XP (excessive writing to disk? Not that I notice anything). Roxio's bulletin board is full of complaints about this under XP but so far no solution. Shame, it was such a great program under 95 and 98! | PDentener (1821) | ||
| 77800 | 2002-09-11 19:59:00 | Finally, after several emails to them, Roxio's reply: "...Hello from Roxio We have had some reports of customers loading GoBack on some XP machines and rebooting to little or no history, we do believe that we have discovered the problem and will have a fix for this in our next update 3.2 due out later this fall. Thank you...". They only mentioned this after I expressed my dissatisfaction with the current version, and the fact that I would happily wait for a patch if they were working on one. Not been impressed at all so far with Roxio's support (and their attitude). |
