77624 2002-09-08 06:26:00 I have downloaded Kazaa. How do I stop it from trying to run each time I start my computer up? Timmythedog (1816)
77625 2002-09-08 07:01:00 Delete it from the start up group.... i think thats all you need to do

O hang on, better idea:
in kazaa, tools > options > untick "start kazaa automaticly", with luck the later will do the trick, if not, try the first as well.

77628 2002-09-08 09:23:00 Bet you've downloaded the full version Kazaa, and not the lite one... it's probably not just a case of removing it from the start-up, etc because of all the associated spyware.

My suggestions would be to download "Ad-Aware" by clicking here (ftp.pcworld.com)... Run that, and remove all the associated spyware files found...

After that, you should uninstall kazaa, but there will also be other files which will have spread through your system which an uninstall will have no effect on... these are 3rd party programs installed separately... you'll just have to figure out which ones you recognise, and which you don't, etc... Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add Remove Programs

Finally... after ALL that effort... visit this website (p2pclients.host.sk) to select a spyware free installation of Kazaa lite, or other programs if you so wish... Do this by moving your mouse over the "side menu" which will reveal another menu.

Hope this helps!

77629 2002-09-08 12:00:00 If you have a closer look at the site I mentioned you will see that it includes the fake .dll file and instructions on how to install the full version of Kazaa without any spyware or other programs. dipstick01 (445)
