78250 2002-09-10 09:22:00 I would like to purchase a tablet, but I don't know much about them.Is there any important things or features to watch out for. Ron Bakker (356)
78251 2002-09-10 09:34:00 Aspirin tablets can be irritating to the stomach, so be wary.
Acetominophen tablets are better.

BUT

If you want a tablet input device for your PC, there are other things to consider.

Some programs are very specific on the tablets requires, and need those that can be calibrated for them. Also some are quite OS dependent.

Identify what you are going to use it with, and contact the program suppliers for recommendations. A colleague has just had to spend an extra $1,300 due to incorrect tablet selection.

78253 2002-09-10 10:19:00 DSE have a 6" x 4.5" with pen for $98 incl GST, you wont beat that for price. An 18" x 12" version with inductive locator is about $1,300 plus GST.

And everything in between. The calibration is essential for some CAD type packages, and not all are yet supported by XP

78255 2002-09-11 01:56:00 Wacom Intous tablets, distributed by Renaissance, are the defacto industry standard in design work. The range is extensive from small ones right up to huge thigns good for CAD work.

I've got an older (serila port baed, that's how old) Wacom Artz II tablet and it still does the job after all these years. You'll pay more for a Wcaom tablet tna for a cheap "clone" tablet, but it's well worth the extra expense in my opinion.
