78111 2002-09-09 12:08:00 When I open the recycle bin it shows nothing in there & it tells me there is nothing there. When I go to the file at the top & click on 'Empty the bin' it asks are you sure you want to delete these 88 items? Why can't I view what's in there? I used to be able to up till about a month ago.
Thanks
Pauline.

78112 2002-09-09 14:57:00 I'll just be the devils advocate, and ask the standard question of what operating system are you using?

I'm on '98 and vaguely remember my computer doing something similar some time ago, unfortunately i cant remember how i fixed it but i did..

Hopefully someone can help you on this one

78113 2002-09-09 16:33:00 'Right Click' on your Norton Recycle Bin and select 'Properties'; then go to the 'Recycle Bin' tab. The settings you want are there. Vince Vince (406)
78114 2002-09-09 21:33:00 Hi Chris,
My OS is ME. & I have Norton's 2002 Systemworks. I will try what Vince suggested first & will come back if that didn't do the trick.

78115 2002-09-09 21:44:00 Hi Vince,
I went & had a look at what you suggested. I have a check beside Recently Deleted Items. & a tick beside Show Norton Protection Status. I couldn't see anything that I could change to show the items up that I know are in the bin. I don't want to do a blind empty as that what it would be as I can't see what the bin contains.
Thanks
Pauline.

(don't knock it, it may work)
it's always possible that the bin is full of hidden files, windoze has been known to do that, it hides stuff it feels thatthe redmond lads think is too important for the masses to worry our wee heads about. Fortunatly you can change this.

Once again, i run '98 so the instructions may not be totally accurate, but they will be close

Open "your computer" or "the bin" depending on if you want the change to be system wide, or just the bin.

view > folder options > veiw > tick the radio button that says "show all files" under the folder " hidden files" > apply > OK

Windoze being what it is may not apply the changes till after you stop looking at the folders, and possibly till after you reboot..

Hope this helps
Chris.

Hi Pauline.
I too am using Norton 2002.
I guess you didn't notice that right under 'Recently Deleted Items' is "All Protected Files'; I think that this is what you want. Vince
