| 78164 | 2002-09-09 08:48:00 | I am helping a person who has problems downloading anything on the net. They are connected to clearnet using a 56k modem and it takes up to a minute to make a connection, not always successful. Clearnet page sometimes arrives but usually the message is received that the page is not available. I have tried other modems and other computers at their site with the same results. Some time ago I encountered a similar problem and it was solved by a control string in the modem settings. However I can not remember what it was. Can anyone help with a control string for a Lucent winmodem. |

Right-click on the connection icon and choose Properties. Click the Configure button. Change maximum speed to 38400 Click the Connection tab. Click the Advanced button. In "Extra settings," enter the string. s38=0-v90=0 Click OK, OK again and OK again Restart the computer For Win XP Start/ control panels/ phone and modem options Click on Modem tab and then Properties Click on Modem tab and change Max port speed to 38400 Click on Advanced In the Extra initialization commands box enter s38=0-v90=0 Click OK and OK again |
