78000 2002-09-10 10:55:00 Hiya Susan

I'm late as usual.

I considered all options then went and bought a Lenoxx DVD8700 from Farmers for $299. It is dual laser and does everything any DVD player can do. I found a review on the net for the DVD8000 which looks identical in all respects. Apparently it is multizone but I can't find anything in the manual to confirm or deny.

I figured that one DVD is much the same as another and Farmers back their products with good warranties so why worry?

78001 2002-09-10 10:58:00 Sorry team :(

Take the %20 out of the middle of that url, and can somebody tell me how to avoid that happening on long urls please?

Cheers

78002 2002-09-10 10:59:00 You'll need to remove the %20 from the URL when your browser opens :)

78003 2002-09-10 20:44:00 Yes Mike, I know that, so I assume your advice was for others who might try to use the link. I guess my follow-up was not entirely clear.

What I want to know is how to stop very long urls from doing this at line breaks. There must be a way other than shortening the url.
I could yhave done this but then it would have been necessary to navigate the site to get to the article instead of going straight to it.

Cheers

Sorry Mike your wrong on the inputs thing. s-video and Component are not a lot different, but RCA(composite) is a lot worse than the other two.

We had a discussion about dvd's a month or so ago Here (pressf1.co.nz)
Scroll down to my imput on the whole thing, and it should shed some light.
Basically a cheap one will be fine, just make sure the outputs of the dvd match up to the inputs on your tv.(which they will if your tv is <10 yrs old)

78005 2002-09-10 23:18:00 LOL Billy T I wasn't replying to your question about the %20 - I was just replying to your earlier post that contained the URL - I must have been typing my reply when you followed up first, as your one wasn't there until after I finished my reply :)

Well then the salespeople at <counts > seven different and competing TV retailers the past month all lied to me with the exact same lie by telling me that YUV Component output produces a far better picture than s-video. I specifically asked for them to compare the three output types, and they all told me exactly the same thing. One of them even went as far as to say that there was nothing to compare - the YUV component output far exceeds the s-video or RCA composite output.

78007 2002-09-11 00:18:00 mmmm.....salesman BS...got to love it ;-)

theres not a huge diference between them and most people can't tell the difference.

composite signal is slightly worse due to the signals being joined together at the player then being split apart at the tv. where as yuv goes almost straight through without the converting process.

still, i prefer a scart ;-)

78008 2002-09-11 01:30:00 What I want to know then is why TV brands (eg Philips, LG etc.) promote their TVs as being "DVD Ready" when they've got the YUV Component Input?
