2002-09-10 21:23:00 | Hi I just recently find out that they're were 4 cookies in my Temporary Internet Folder that can not be deleted. Those 4 cookies are all XXX cookies, I don't know how I got those cookies. It probably came from while one of my friends were looking for warez. So does any one know how to get rid of these cookies...? Please help, thank you.

2002-09-10 21:50:00 | How are you trying to delete them? Close all browser windows and go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>Internet Options>General. In the Temporary Internet Files section click on Settings>View Files and then OK. Now just click on the Cookie files and press the Delete key. They should be deleted. Post back your results. :-)

I also tried Ad-aware but did not work as well. I also virus scan my computer but did not work. One thing I haven't tried is Window washer cause I heard it has spy wares in it and it's also useless.... So any other suggestions, please :) | ConCon (1839) | ||
2002-09-11 06:52:00 | Oh dear . What version of Windows are you using? If you have Win 95, 98 or Win ME go to the Press F1 FAQ section (click on link top right of this window) and read through the "How to Delete Your Index . dat file" . Follow its instructions and post back your results again . If you are using Win XP let us know that too and we will see what we can do .

2002-09-12 06:29:00 | Dear Susan B thank you so much for you help, Spider worked perfectly. Thank you so much, but I still have one more problem...my IE address bar still have some past URLS. Problem IS I never have been into any of those sites, never have I type any of those sites into my address bar. I tried spider but did not work, I tried clean history but also did not work. :( Those address all links to news sites, download sites etc no XXX. My parent uses the computer sometimes, when I asked them they said they never been into any of those sites before. Any way if I Clean History from right click on E>Clean History wouldn't that delete everything that is in my IE address bar. If any one could help me, I'll be really grateful :) p.s. thank you again for helping me :)

2002-09-12 06:45:00 | Glad to hear that Spider worked for you . :-) You can actually run it two or three times, one after the other to clean everything out because sometimes the index . dat file is so big that it needs several goes at it . Otherwise, just use it every now and then for PC maintenance . Now, when you say your Address Bar, I assume you are referring to the space where you type in addresses to go to sites, is that right? If so, in Internet Explorer go to Tools>Options>Content>AutoComplete and click on Clear Forms then OK . Then go to the General tab and click on Clear History just to be sure, then OK . Hopefully the addresses will be gone . If, however, you are referring to Links along your Toolbar (actually it's your Links toolbar) you can just right click on them and choose Delete . If neither of those are any help, let me know .

2002-09-12 20:46:00 | Thanks for the advise Susan B but it did not work :( . You were right, I was talking about the Address bar that I type the URLs in. The problem is that the addresses in the address bar are not in english, kinda like...signs with alphabets mix between them. It's like viewing other language without that language support. All of those links, link me to chinese sites, I have chinese text support and input support as well. So, any other suggestions... I should of gave this long ago: Win98Se and IE5.5. Thank you again for your help :)

2002-09-12 22:03:00 | Gee, this is a stubborn one!! When you say you have chinese test support and input support, do you mean that you added them or did the website add them? More questions: 1 . Do the addresses not go away if you click on the arrow of the dropdown box in your Address Bar, select the offender and click Delete? 2 . Have you looked in the Startup in msconfig to see if there are any strange looking entries in there? (Start>Run type msconfig go to Startup tab) 3 . When you ran AdAware, did you download and install the latest version and then download the latest reference files and install them too? It may not matter because these don't sound like adverts but it's good to cover everything . Next I think you need to run a trojan detector . There are a few around, one is SWAT a free trojan program with free updates for life here ( . com/bots/downloadswatit . html" target="_blank">lockdowncorp . com) and another is The Cleaner 3 . 0, a shareware product from here ( . simtel . net/pub/pd/57449 . html" target="_blank">www . simtel . net) . Run both of them if you wish, but if you keep the second one you are required to pay for it . I'll wait for your answers to the above before I suggest anything else . :-)
