78623 2002-09-12 02:41:00 Ignore the last link... it might be useful for those who browse porn sites, but not for blocking kazaa popups and the like.... Chris Wilson (431)
78624 2002-09-12 02:46:00 A mail has been sent ..... :)

I have a nice wee prog that quickly adds and removes urls from the hosts file if you'd like that.

78628 2002-09-12 11:28:00 who you been talking to, Susan B?? :-)

I won't be an IDG Geek Girl for much longer though... am leaving IDG in a week or so...

Will still be coming to PressF1 though... thoroughly addicted! And my PC, Palm and new MP3 player have never been better thanx to everyones' advice here!

BTW, belated congrats on reaching your 1000th Susan!

Graham L, I gotta say, it's great having you on this forum!

78629 2002-09-12 11:57:00 So what other entries should we be removing from out HOSTS files now, Kerry?

Hope all goes well for you in the future. Keep the pop-ups and mouse-followers to a minimum.

>Graham L, I gotta say, it's great having you on this forum!

I'd have to agree to that :)

78630 2002-09-12 22:12:00 hehe, thanks for that JM. I know Ad people aren't regarded in the best light most of the time (usually somewhere between Lawyer and Used Car Salesman, :- ), but some of us are actually in it for the right reasons.

I get a real buzz out of watching a small business grow into a big business with the help of some well-done advertising. I even remember when iHug was a 6cm x 1 col ad in my classified section in PC World (back in my print days)! Watched their ad and business get bigger and bigger and look at them now!

Anyhoo, you can be assured that where I'm going, I'll be continuing to remind Advertisers that their content needs to be useful to the site visitor, and NOT an invasion of privacy or an annoyance. When the ads work well (ie. visitors click on them because they're interested in the product or service & the advertiser makes a sale or gets people to their site), everyone wins.

I won't be too far away though - will be regularly checking in to PressF1.

Keep up the good work, JM, you've also been an especially valued PF1 patron!

Cheers
Kerry
