78363 2002-09-14 03:27:00 I must say, thanks a lot for you time :)

Before this problem happened, the chinese text and input support was already on my computer.

For question 1 you are right the addresses doesn't seem to go away when I click on the arrow of the dropdown box in the address bar but I don't really get what you mean by "...select the offender and click Delete..". Did you mean by just selecting the address and press delete or did you mean something else, if that's what you meant then, it did not work. I know the msconfig and nothing was unusual about my start up settings, I also tried the SWAT but no trojans was found, I haven't tried The Cleaner, though.

Gotta say thank you for your time:)

78364 2002-09-14 05:15:00 Hi

My apologies if you have tried this, but under 98, I use this method to clear typed urls in the address bar.

Click Start / Settings / Taskbar and Start menu

Click the Start Menu Programs tab, then click the Clear box in the Documents Menu part.

Good luck,

J

78365 2002-09-14 07:59:00 It's ok, after all is still a suggestion ;) , thanks :) ConCon (1839)
78366 2002-09-16 11:13:00 Did Jester's suggestion not work?

I'm pretty much at the end of my bag of tricks now, but as a last shot at this you might or might not want to try the following . It involves editing the Registry so if you've never done this before you might want to give it a miss or at least read the Press F1 FAQ on The Registry (click on the FAQ link top right of this window) so that you know what you are getting into .

If you want to try it:

Go to Start>Run, and type regedit

Drill down to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs

Highlight 'TypedUrls' . Now, if you see the items you want to get rid of in the right pane, remove them .

Close the registry .

I hope that works, because there's nothing else I can think of now . Good luck .

78368 2002-09-17 06:43:00 Er... Peter, which idea? Jester's suggestion or my registry tweak? Susan B (19)
78369 2002-09-17 08:28:00 Why, your registry tweak of course. Re the commas reply - at least I got it half right - forgot about the keyboard bit.
Bye
