2002-09-12 09:17:00 | Serious Now.. This happened to me once before & I cannot remember How it got fixed, except I believe I lost a tick from a tick box. I am on XP, isp is xtra, Internet connection Msnxtra. If I am in OE or PressF1, & I click on one of the Posted addresses, the blue ones, you know?. This only seems to happen if I want to access one of these sites. In OE I can send/recieve E/ms. I think the Blue site address has to go out thro the Internet connection somehow ?????? & they are not talking to each other. Any Ideas?? Poppa John | Poppa John (284) | |
2002-09-12 10:17:00 | Hi Poppa John Are you trying to say that clicking on a link (blue words & underlined) in either emails or here on PressF1 does not cause that website to open?

2002-09-12 10:25:00 | Whizz off to: support.microsoft.com You will need to copy and paste this into your address bar as clicking on it will obviously not work for you. It should (hopefully) fix both the OE and link problem on F1. Cheers Jen

2002-09-16 07:20:00 | Well how about this then........ When you click a hyperlink in an e-mail message or on a Web page, or right-click a hyperlink on a Web page and then click Open in New Window, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms: - Nothing happens. - The new window may be blank. -You may receive a scripting error message. This excerpt is from the lastest IE6 service pack 1 (SP1) list of fixes. support.microsoft.com You may want to download the latest service pack (release date 9 Sept) and see if that helps. The download site is: www.microsoft.com Copy & paste the links again to your address bar. Let us know if this fixes it. :-)

2002-09-16 09:01:00 | Jen C. Have lost the Link connect capability to OE as well now. If I click on OE & F1 blue links I end up with a white screen & no progress moving bar at bottom of screen. If I goto the top RH of screen to where it says "Links" & follow thro, it works. Have tried to download IE6SP1, & I cannot complete it. Error message in part, "setup cannot download, etc,,, the folder is read only. Either change the permissions for this folder or specify a different folder". Have also tried "copy & paste" of your blue link" but not having much luck there either, Suspect my hands are too shaky, Large heavy hammer called for I think. This also happened early this year & was so easy to fix, whatever it was. Frustrated Poppa John | Poppa John (284) | |

Either change the > e permissions for this folder or specify a different > folder Well I still think the SP1 is the way to go as no one else has come up with any bright ideas! Not sure why you got the "Setup cannot download..." message so I have given you step-by-step instructions in case you are taking a wrong click somewhere: Go to : www.microsoft.com for the download 1. Click on the Download Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 479 KB file. (Download box right top corner) 2. When the File Download dialog box popped up with Would you like to open the file or save it to your computer? Choose Open 3. Accept the agreement and click next 4. Choose Typical Installation 5. Sit back and wait approx 45 mins (56K Modem) for the file to download. 6. Installation should happen automatically. 7. Close all programs and re-start PC 8. Please god let the problem be fixed!! | 78826 | 2002-09-16 10:58:00 | I don't believe this, I don't, I don't, I don't. I went out to the kitchen to make a mugatea, leaving F1 on the screen. When I got back I clicked on a blue link to see whay would happen. What Did? You guessed it, it worked, so I tried a few more in F1 & shut it down, Went into OE & it works!!.I have shut the m/c right down to power off & started up again. It still works, as good as it did before this glitch. So what I want to know is which one of you snuck into my bedroom whilst I was tea making & fixed the problem??? Or was the part installation of IE6SP1 enough to do it. Whatever I am a happy chappy again. Tomorrow when I start up again will be the test. In the mean time, THANKS to everyone, specially Jen C who was quite concerned about this old duffer (not like that lady who sits on a throne to work, who will remain nameless!!). Grateful Poppa John :D Ps I could even look at my article that Chris Wilson has put on his server, neat. P J |
