78689 2002-09-12 01:31:00 Greetings,

I have an email account with Clear Net. When I try to send an email to an associate via one of his email addresses, it gets blocked thus "refused by dynablock.wirehub.net" and disappears. I have contacted Clear and they are "looking into it". I contacted abuse@wirehub.net and they said that they have a list of dialup IP addresses with are "blocked" without giving any reason. Can anyone contribute anything about this?

Cheers

78690 2002-09-12 02:01:00 Its usually because they believe the ISP they have blocked is able to host open relaying, which allows spammers to use it.

A while age elpaso.net, a small ISP in the US blocked Xtra for a week or so as well.

78691 2002-09-12 04:04:00 could be that someone sent some spam from a @clear.net.nz address.
It is possible that the blocking is on your recipiants email client. Hell after a bindge of clicking on spam and "blocking sender" i managed to block "pressf1" through clicking on the wrong e-mail. Fortunatly i never e-mailed to enquire as to why i was being snobbed, so i never got to make a twit out of myself from that one!

You could always do what the spammers do, and just send it using a faked address, or something other than an clear.net.nz account.

If that doesn't work, theres always a web based email account, such as yahoo.co.nz, windows-sucks.com, or for a NZ flavour, you could join the orcon free community, and get a @orcon.net.nz address with fully functional pop3 access as well!!!

78692 2002-09-12 04:20:00 Imagine if NZ Post decided to "block" mail from a certain mail collection company. Would be chaos. When you post a letter you expect it to get through (well 99.99% chance). Even if clear.net.nz had been subject to spammers sending stuff out, does a company have a right to block legit emails. Surely there must be a better way that a blanket block. Dolby Digital (160)
78693 2002-09-12 04:27:00 how about when ihug decided to block access to freenet, i4free, and all the other "free" internet companys to ihug customers

That was the day i lost my loyalty with ihug...

It is unusual for an ISP to be blocked for any long time, i think you might have to work around this, and await the problem to go away, and of course a complaint from your friend to his/her ISP would help
