| 78665 | 2002-09-11 23:42:00 | I have trouble with my computer (PII Win 98SE) drives randomly running in dos compatibility mode. I have my main drive on primary master, and a second drive as a slave. Secondary ide channel has cd rom as master and cdrw as slave. I have found the noide.inf as mentioned in previous posts and done as suggested. Some boots everything is fine and the drives are normal, other times ms dos mode and system very slow. Do I need to update mother board drivers..any suggestions will be gratefully received Campbell |

| 78667 | 2002-09-11 23:58:00 | Normally, if they are running in DOS mode, it is caused by M/B drivers, but as your system is OK sometimes. could cause some head scratching. I'm sure one of the experts will have a solution. Bye |

| 78668 | 2002-09-12 05:12:00 | Hi. Something to check... boot up in Safe Mode, then go into Device Manager and check for duplicated devices, and remove them. Then reboot in usual mode and if still a problem (or when/if it next occurs) check your bootlog.txt, copy any error/failed messages, and paste it into a query in Microsoft's Knowledge base at their site. | Greg S (201) | ||
