| 1289001 | 2012-07-17 23:54:00 | Interesting the majority of peeps can identify the Ford models but at the same time many of those profess to be Holden fans. Shows that Ford marketing is superior to GM in brand awareness.Nah, not really, you're only talking about Holden Australia, not GM world wide. If the Ford quiz was only Ford Australia the results would be similar. Its easier to tell the difference in models between Ford UK (Escort, Capri, Cortina, etc), Ford US (Mustang, Thunderbird, etc), Ford Australia (Falcon, Fairlane, etc). They all had quite distinctive body shapes. But if it was Ford Australia and asking to pick between a XK and a XL or a XA, XB or XC, I think unless you owned one or really knew your stuff, you would be stuffed (I would anyway). Seems to me with many of the early cars (Ford, GM, etc), the only defference between some models was a bit of trim or the grill, or headlights, or something often minor gave it a new name, model or whatever. It might be fair to say there were probably more Fords in NZ in the earlier days though (Would that be right?), seems they were everywhere, esp UK Fords. A lot of Escorts, Anglias, Consuls, Cortinas, Zephyrs, Capris. Although we used to have a Ford Assembly Plant on Auckland (that also made Hand Grenades and Mortar rounds), so that might explain why there were so many Fords in NZ. |

| 1289002 | 2012-07-18 01:05:00 | Fords were assembled in Lower Hutt. On the E93A the floor boards, toolbox cover, luggage shelf in the boot was made from the packing case in which the CKD was sent. As we used to say: its **** but its British ****. God save the Queen. |
