| 1312570 | 2012-11-15 03:48:00 | As Iantech commented, chkdsk and sfc, will scan the system files and data on a drive. You can tell chkdsk to scan for bad sectors as well. If you go into My Computer, right click the HDD, Properties /tools/error checking, theres two options, check the disk ( which is chkdsk) and check /recover sectors ( words to that effect). It will take longer as its then checking the whole Drive, not just data/ system files. Sometimes its helps, other times it wont, theres no real " this is the problem" result. Any hardware, no matter how old can and will play up at anytime. |

So can just do that from safe mode desktop don't have to go through command prompt. Cant look at moment its turned off |
