| 79283 | 2002-09-13 12:21:00 | I am using a 120 day evaluation version of XP (thanks Microsoft ;)). I have just purchased Win 2000 Pro and will probably trash the XP install with this. Any pitfalls with this? I suppose I will have to install Win 2000 and then reinstall all my software. | Dolby Digital (160) | ||
| 79284 | 2002-09-13 12:46:00 | I would advise with all OS upgrades to back up your treasured files and do a format and install clean. Windows 2000 does not like XP and vice versa - I have heard of many probs. BTW you are making the right decision - Windows 2000 is incredibly stable (be sure to get the latest Service Pack as well (SP3)) and let them sort out the XP issues in good time. :) |

| 79285 | 2002-09-13 21:37:00 | Phil, This goes with any OS - the best way to have a well-running OS is to back up all your wanted/needed files etc. and format your computer and install fresh. Win 2000 should offer to format your drive for you during installation - this will be the way to go. Mike. |
