79226 2002-09-13 09:51:00 Hi...

Just new to searching & Downloading MP3's using the recently released shareaza program. These two parts are easy, but how do you upload with this program? The uploads window stares at you below the active downloads with no obvious way to start uploads. Looking at their website FAQ's (no direct help) there was little info on uploading...- I feel I owe a litte favour by uploading...since always downloading...

Cheers...

79227 2002-09-13 10:05:00 Hi Kahawai. I am a longtime Kazaa user. I cannot help you as I have not used shareaza. But maybe you could help me? WHat is shareaza like?? Are the download speeds good? Do you get many results??

there is a forum on the shareaza website. Go there and ask your question. They will definitely be able to help you.

79228 2002-09-13 11:28:00 Hi,
I have never used shareaza but I think that the only way mp3s will be uploaded from you is if people request them from you. Aslong as you have your mp3s in a folder allocated for sharing then all you can do is wait.

79229 2002-09-13 11:39:00 P2P programs like this work by you downloading software/files/mp3s/whatever from other users. For you to upload it'd take someone to then download from you, and all that needs is for them to request something that you've got in your shared folder (generally something you've downloaded, unless you've given access to other parts of your drive, or moved some other files into your shared folder) and start downloading from you. If they're downloading from you, then you in turn are uploading to them. You can't make it upload, someone has to want to :)

Shareaza has a semi slick interface (sort of WinXP stye with skins) and relatively easy to use. It displays heaps of results (though with duplicates & triplicates...) for MP3's. Though the downnloads seem (to me) hit & miss -either near instant or quite sometime before a activated download starts.
I think the developers are still working on the program (eg. community chats to servers for downloads). Using this program because of it's medium size and absence of add on's such as Ad programs...

79231 2002-09-14 09:29:00 Mike,

Thanks for your info...now have a better insight to this sharing concept. I guess some sort of speed or volume controls (bandwidth?) need to be implemented when uploading. This being so that availability of modem connection is not significantly affected...

79232 2002-09-14 09:57:00 Hi Kahawai Chaser,

I had a look at the Shareaza site and in particular, read some of the posts
in their Forum1
was a little disapointed at the number of users!

I suggest Kazaa Lite a better alternative!(no responsibility for any gremlins or whatever caught though)alwaysscan downloads for viruses!

As a matter of interest have a look at this article at thie following address

79233 2002-09-14 10:26:00 I agree with Kiwitas on the users issue. I connected to Shareaza, and there were less than 1million online. Kazaalite has just under 5 million online as I write this.
