79057 2002-09-13 08:05:00 Well, this marketing can be justified any way you like, but the argument is semantic.

I stand by the position that you cannot remanufacture a PC. You can only reassemble it with a collection of used (and possibly some new) parts and the net MTBF will be lower for that collection than for a PC newly assembled from new shelf stock. There is no credit reflected in the offering of 12 months warranty, that is simply an unavoidable commercial obligation.

If they wanted to rassure purchasers of "remanufactured" PCs (and there genuinely was a prospect of better reliability) they would offer an extended warranty of two or three years. It would be a safe bet.

I'll say no more.

79058 2002-09-13 09:48:00 I saw that ad too Baldy. At least they asked for soemone with decent qualifications. Dunedin has a fairly good rep as far as the PC Co. goes. That is based on customer feedback, and my own experiences. I would never buy there again due to the pobs I had hardware wise (assembled in Hamilton), but service - Dunedin has got it right.
