79117 2002-09-13 03:56:00 Over the last few days I have been receiving SPAM apparently emanating from my own e_mail address. Can anyone explain how, and what I can do about it? All help much appreciated. KB kbcad (1025)
79118 2002-09-13 04:31:00 Are your AV definitions up to date and have you virus checked lately?

It doesn't quite sound like a virus but it could be a Klez variant. You can download and run a klez remover from Symantec and some other AV sites. Do a search on press F1 for klez remover and you might find the url.

79120 2002-09-13 08:02:00 ummmmm,
it does sound like a klez variant, klez takes a random e-mail address from the senders computer, and uses that as a senders address.
The first time i got e-mail with sent by the klez virus, it appeared to come from my own address too
Other signs of klez is is that the message body will be some random looking sample of rubbish, taken from a document on the senders computer.

If it is selling pornsites, fast $$, or any of the usual ******** **** that spam sells it is not klez, and is more likely to be plain old spam with the forged sender address being the same as the victims.

Spammers are trying to stay up in the game, with more people using programs like mailwasher, the chances of spam ever coming with a true return address is getting less by the day.
