| 79479 | 2002-09-14 10:29:00 | Hello all, My PC went crazy a few minutes ago, so I restored my system back to what it was yesterday!!! It's fine now!!! BUT, I used to have a "show desktop icon" on Quick Launch Toolbar". now it's gone!!! I have been trying to firgure it out how to get it back but I can't. Can someone please give me a tip to get it back or create a new one into my QUICK LAUNCH TOOLBAR" . It's important for me. I really appreaciate your help!!! Many many Thanks!!! Phil |

| 79480 | 2002-09-14 11:48:00 | Im not sure about this but the "Show Desktop Icon" should be stored C:\Documents and Settings\%Your Name%\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch. If it is then drag it onto the quick launch bar in the task bar. | nzwalkabout (299) | ||
| 79481 | 2002-09-14 13:26:00 | The Easy and Quick way is to look/search for the "Show desktop . scf" (include quotation makrs) file When the search utility does find it, drag the file from the Find window to the Quick Launch bar to place a Show Desktop icon there . And if you cant find it then, well try this: Open Notepad and type: [Shell] Command=2 IconFile=explorer . exe,3 [Taskbar] Command=ToggleDesktop Save file as "Show Desktop . scf" (including Quotation marks to prevent it being saved as . txt file) to the folder where Quick Launch items are stored . To find this folder, right-click an empty area of the Quick Launch toolbar and choose Open . The folder name appears in the Address bar . The shortcut should reappear on the Quick Launch toolbar . | 79482 | 2002-09-14 13:40:00 | nzwalkabout is correct about the location - if it is not in the "Your name" directory it will definately be in the "Administrator" directory under the same path, create a shortcut and drag to Quick Launch bar. It's a Windows Scripting File and sometimes hides it's extension (SCF). Or if that fails open Notepad and paste this in: [Shell] Command=2 IconFile=explorer.exe,3 [Taskbar] Command=ToggleDesktop and save the file on your desktop as "Show Desktop.scf" and then drag to the Quick Launch bar. This script was extracted from Windows 2000 Pro SP3 but should be exactly the same. Let me know if it works. :D :D |

It even came up with the desktop icon, I thought I was sucessful!!! but however, when i click on the desktop icon on QuickLauch Bar, it doesn't work!!! I'm using WIN XP Pro. sorry to ask for your help again!!! I really appreaciate it!!!! Regards Phil |
