I have a 2.0 Hz P4 running windows XP, it is set up with 4 user accounts, but is not networked although it has a network card installed. If I log in to any of the accounts and then use the "switch user" option from the desktop to change to another user even if none of the users are running any programs, it starts to load up the processor until with 3 users started the task manager shows that the processor is running at 100 %.
The programs that appear to be overloading the system are "spoolsv.exe" about 70% and "svchost.exe" 30%. This problem seems to disappear if any of the users are connected to the internet. Any ideas would be welcome. |
