79422 2002-09-14 07:45:00 I have a 2.0 Hz P4 running windows XP, it is set up with 4 user accounts, but is not networked although it has a network card installed. If I log in to any of the accounts and then use the "switch user" option from the desktop to change to another user even if none of the users are running any programs, it starts to load up the processor until with 3 users started the task manager shows that the processor is running at 100 %.
The programs that appear to be overloading the system are "spoolsv.exe" about 70% and "svchost.exe" 30%. This problem seems to disappear if any of the users are connected to the internet. Any ideas would be welcome.

79423 2002-09-14 10:06:00 Personally i wouldn't use the Switch Users option since it doesn't log the previous users off and so would take up memory. use the log off user option for better memory efficiency Chao is back (634)
