| 79514 | 2002-09-16 08:19:00 | You would need to know the exact model number, and check the makers site to see what OS it supports. While they may offer BIOS upgrades for other OS there is always a risk re-flashing the BIOS, in that you could turn the notebook into an expensive floor tile. Most of the no-OS laptops have a demo version loaded, so if that runs OK its likely that loading a full version would be OK. Needs to be factored into the price you pay. I was once IT Manager of a medium size company, and all OS and applications from Microsoft were paid via a volume licence. Its likely that this is the reason for no OS, as they would not want to pay an annual charge for a laptop they no longer owned. |
