79401 2002-09-14 04:28:00 My friend has just gone a brought Soldier of Fortune 2 - Double Helix.
His PC has 128Mb RAM, and is a 1.6Ghz Compaq P4. The grahpics card is where I think he's being let down. Upon starting the game, it comes up with the Open GL Render Failed stuff, like when you card isn't compatible. I was wondering if his card is incompatible with Open GL.
It's a 16MB AGP nVidia Vanta card with the latest drivers installed (I think) and DirectX 8.1
Running Windows XP.
Any ides on why it's not working or how to make it work?

Cheers

79402 2002-09-14 05:30:00 sounds like he hasn't got openGL install. get the latest drivers.

however with such a slow video card i'm not sure how playable it will be. also 128meg RAM with winXP is on the small side. upgrade to 256.

79403 2002-09-14 05:55:00 So the Vanta series are compatible with OpenGL? That was the main thing. I've gone to the nvidia.com website and I'm getting the driver (30Megs :()

when you get it going can you post back. it will be interesting to see how fast the game runs. (might pay to benchmark it with something like quake3)

79405 2002-09-14 06:09:00 Yeah, well, it's built on the Q2A engine. I'll see about getting the MadOnion.com 3D benchmark to see what it gives. Im not expecting much in a resolution about 800x600. tat's k thou!
