79762 2002-09-15 11:04:00 Has any reader who was using Netscape 6.2.3, and has upgraded to version 7 been able to tell the difference between the two?
From all the hype and commentaries read, there seems to be no difference.
Please comment.
Thanks :-)

79763 2002-09-15 21:42:00 I upgraded from 6.2, however only my other half used it regularly (I've stuck with 4.75). But there are features that are fantastic, and it appears to find web pages quicker. Check the What's New in 7? section of this page:

79764 2002-09-16 05:11:00 Been there, Greg. But why did you downgrade back to 4.7?
I must admit, 4.7 was very good and 6.2.1 and 6.2.2 were very, very bad,
Did you ever see 6.2.3, though? Much more sturdy and robust.

79765 2002-09-16 22:41:00 Good question... 6.2.2 was the only one we tried - for us was very stable etc, only strangely, it loaded and ran very slowly by comparison to 4.75 - startup was sluggish, opening mail folders etc and browsing all slow. 7 is modestly quicker, but still not as good as 4.75 - I have to wonder if there's a problem running them both from the same machine. Missus likes 6.2 / 7 because of it's modern interface! haha Greg S (201)
79766 2002-09-18 04:13:00 Did 6.2 have the tabbed browsing? I went from 6.something to 7 and that was the first and biggest difference I noticed. athlonboy (1781)
79767 2002-09-18 11:39:00 I have just put Netscape7 onto my PC. I must say I am pretty pleased with it. Have not had Netscape before, so can't provide a comparison.

However seems a lot faster than IE5.5 - not to mention less cluttered and better layed out.

No, 6.2.3 did not have the TABS. (Haven't figured out how to use them yet as new URLS do not show up as new tabs - are they supposed to?) :O
Even tho' I have only a Pentium I AMD equivalent CPU & motherboard, and you are supposed to have a 233 or something like that, it works for me except that the mail preferences will probably not hold - they never did in 6.2.3 either:_|
Speed - you can't beat it - from someone who has a 100Mhz processor that's saying something.:D
Also I noticed that the directory size of 7 was about a half a meg smaller than 6.2.3.
The preferences dialogue box also includes extra stuff like ICQ options and etc. :^O

79769 2002-09-22 12:19:00 you can open a new tab by hitting the "Open a new tab" button to the left of the first tab, or pressing Ctrl+T.

you can also set the preferences to allow new tabs to be opened instead of new windows when

a) middle-click or Ctrl+click a link in a web page

and

b) Ctrl+Enter in the location bar
