79624 2002-09-15 07:03:00 I like music .
I also like f1 asking annoying questions. but you guys know so much I can't help myself.
So here is another question.
When I'm using my pc (asking annoying questions)I like to play music on the cd rom, but if I use my media player it does little spits & cracks of distortion that that are noticable. & when I stop media player & then just hit play on the cd rom itself. It plays nicley for a while & then it will just stop all together.

79625 2002-09-15 07:21:00 One option could be to upgrade your driver for your soundcard, if you have a separate soundacrd rather than on-board. If you know what type of soundcard you have (look in the devices under system properties - windows key and pause) hunt down their website and look for drivers. Google.com is a good start.

Alternatively if you have insufficient RAM and running several applications, then your sound can suffer, especially if you have built in sound rather than a separate soundcard. You may be able to allocate more system memory to your sound configuration.

Post your PC specs here, and there may be other suggestions.

79627 2002-09-15 07:59:00 i'd give winamp a go... tis less of a hog than media player

If you can find a version prior to winamp3 which also plays video (allthough not on my system) you will be better off.
Winamp is a no frills sort of program, and as such is not as sucky on the resourses you have available

79628 2002-09-15 08:06:00 it could be the cdrom itself or even the cd/hardrive setup. tweak'e (174)
79629 2002-09-15 08:36:00 Chris Wilson.. is "winamp" an MS program that will be on my XP somewhere? Or do I need to download it? Thanks Poppa John :| Poppa John (284)

79633 2002-09-15 09:27:00 If your Windows version has got plain vanilla CD player why not just use that? I have Win98 and needed to install it via Windows Setup. Susan B (19)
