79860 2002-09-16 00:20:00 If I delete a thread from "My Watches", and then I reply to it, is it added back into My Watches again?

I guess I could just go and test it myself hmmm...

Mike.

79861 2002-09-16 01:05:00 My guess is Yes.
How you can purge the whacking big list, I don't know.
Adding or removing notification one at a time is a pain, too.

79862 2002-09-16 03:00:00 Hi

When you reply to a message (regardless of whether you started the thread), there is a box at the bottom of your new message Watch this topic

Regardless of whether you tick here or not, it still adds to your watched topics list if you have set it up to always watch, under My Settings.

Here are the options available:
Always watch topics I create: Yes No
Always watch topics I reply to: Yes No
Always email me watch update notices: Yes No

Having said that - I have it set to NOT watch my replies, and don't click the box when posting, but still get email notifications on threads, prolly because I had Yes selected in always email me watch update notices... better change that.

79863 2002-09-16 03:33:00 Well I went through and deleted most of the watched threads, but figured that if someone replies to a really old thread and I replied to that reply I might want to watch it again... took me about 5-10 minutes to delete almost all of my watched threads, clicking the tick-box on them and clicking delete...

first I told it to display 100 watches per page though, cause 30 wasn't enough :)

79864 2002-09-16 05:13:00 Too lazy to go and check but I think I remember that Watches are kept for 30 days only, unless you specifically go and select a Watch to be saved permanently.

Therefore, on "really old threads" you are not going to get a notification unless it's one of your saved saved Watches.

Yeah, I've found that. Thanks to you I know how to change it too! :D

79866 2002-09-16 05:37:00 Well I had over 200 threads being watched, and I'm not sure they were all within the last 30 days - I think I still had some from July in there, but I might have been wrong... I can't check now, they're all gone :)

79867 2002-09-16 05:52:00 Well, here's what it says:

[i]Manage or delete your watches below. Watches allows you to track updates to any topics that you're interested in. Optionally, you can receive watch update notifications by email. For your convenience, watches for topics that haven't been updated for more than 30 days will be automatically removed from your list. To prevent any watch from being automatically deleted, simply toggle the "save watch" option. [i/]

My last saved Watch is 17 August so mine's working. :D

79868 2002-09-16 05:58:00 That's not fair. :_| She read the flaming instructions!

robo, you can go down a page of them, clicking them all, then hit delete once. That's easier than one at a time.
