79723 2002-09-15 09:55:00 I have a computer running xp home & I am trying to network it to a pc running 2000 professinal. The xp can see the other computer & it's self, but when I try to acces the other computer it says 'you do not have permission to access this network place'

On the pc running 2000, I can't even access the workgroup. Can anyone help me set up a working network?

79724 2002-09-15 23:24:00 This may not solve your problem but it did for me. I was having simalr trouble between the two os's....there is a key in the registry of the xp machine that doesn't allow admin access from another machine.....the key is

hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\contro l\lsa

there is an entry in there called forceguest...changing that key value to a "0" allows remote access using your own account.......

I jope this is of some use to you :-)

79726 2002-09-16 06:44:00 I tryed this, but i got no where. I have a realtek RTL8019 (form dse). I pinged the pc running xp with this card & it was succesfull, but when I did it the other way around, the ping was 100% unsuccessfull. Has xp got a problem networking to this kind of card? dodocaptain (944)
