79677 2002-09-15 08:58:00 Thats the mystery, all the Webcams I see have only USB output, how can I connect it to a non USB Laptop?

Camera recommendations welcome for the above

Thanks....John

79678 2002-09-15 09:03:00 Thats a good question....webcams need a high speed data interface, so serial RS232 is out. Never seen a parallel port one either. Laptops seldom have video capture...

Webcams have only risen to fame since USB, probably because without it you cant have one?

79679 2002-09-15 09:26:00 All? the first webcams were parallel port, but they were oh so slow, only 2 or 3 frames per sec at best , but they did work. I dont think you would be able to get one now, except maybe second hand.
I use a video camera and a video capture card, somewhat more versatile than a webcam, but presume you wouldnt be able to fit a capture card in a laptop.
