| 80212 | 2002-09-17 00:19:00 | Running Win2000 on a well-configured machine, Outlook Express 5 will not remember its password. I can dial up to my ISP without any problem but, in OE, it will always bring up the dialog box requesting the password for my account. In Tools/Account/Properties/Servers, if I enter a password (and Remember Password box is ticked), click OK to go back to Tools/Account and then re-enter Properties/Servers, the password is blank again! I've tried all sorts of things including disabling my anti-virus checker (VirusScan), using the Repair Internet Explorer option (under Add/Remove Programs) and upgrading to Internet Explorer 6.0 but no joy. My ISP has run out of ideas and nor can I find anything on the Microsoft website to help. Any suggestions please? |

| 80215 | 2002-09-17 11:09:00 | Might be a bit late now if you've managed to fix it, but a fix for this is in one of our very own Press F1 FAQs. Click on the FAQ button top right of this page or here (pressf1.co.nz) to get to that specific one. |

| 80216 | 2002-09-17 11:31:00 | Hi Susan. I think Rohan only had problems with passwords for Outlook, not for dialup. Good to point out FAQ's exist though - I would have been embarassed if there was a FAQ for this & I missed it :-) | parry (27) | ||

Parry is right - it's only in Outlook Express that I'm having the problem. Might be a few days before I get the chance to try what Parry had refered me to but it looks very likely - I'll certainly advise resulys when I've had a go. |

| 80218 | 2002-09-19 11:31:00 | Cool best of luck Rohan. As the fix involves changes to the registry I should have mentioned that some caution is needed. Susan wrote a very good FAQ on the registry so have a look at this. See FAQ#6 in the FAQ's link at top of page. | parry (27) | ||
| 80219 | 2002-11-19 01:39:00 | Dear Folks Thanks for your help. I finally got access to the machine, tried your suggested solution and it appeared to work nicely.
