| 80080 | 2002-09-16 11:40:00 | Hi In my System configuration the Start up list has a 5 programme that seems to can't be disable from start up. I don't if it is a virus or something, cause I ran AV and it reported no viruses. I also ran Ad-aware and it reported nothing as well. Everytime when I disable one of these programmes(they're all the same type) from the Start up list and restart my computer, a new programme would be made. None of these programmes are any of my programme files that I load up. Here's an example of one of them. "lhVgRJ viESRFy.exe C:\WINDOWS\DOWNLO~1\CNSMIN.DLL,Rundll32" I have 5 of them almost exactly the same just except the name of it and something.exe but the path is all the same :( So if any one know what I can do to stop what ever this thing loading up, please help me :) Thanks Jase Sen |

I would recommend running AdAware (free from www.lavasoft.de) first. Its not harmful, like a virus. Just a big nuisance Have you visited any Chinese websites, and if so did you download any "add-ins" for Internet Explorer while there? |

| 80084 | 2002-09-16 21:33:00 | While we're talking about disabling start up files. I have had a couple of PC's that load programs on start up that I can't find where they are being loaded from! I look in msconfig - system.ini, win.ini and startup tabs. Also go into the registry and check all the run run services etc keys. Any ideas? |

Run "regedit" and have a look in the following for something that dosen't quite look right: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\RunOnce HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\RunOnceEx The top one is the best one to look in as the other two arn't used all that often. |

This applet can be run from your control panel, and lets you remove/disable items from starting up when you load windows. But be aware - some things are required for Windows to work properly, so make sure you only delete what you are aiming to get rid of. |
