80033 2002-09-16 10:24:00 Hi, I cant remember if msconfig is present in 95 but assuming it is...

Select Start-Run and type msconfig and press enter. Select the Startup tab and uncheck the program you dont want to start anymore.

Any problems then post again in this thread.

cheers

80034 2002-09-16 10:32:00 Msconfig is not in W95 - have a look in progs startup. Also, the prog will / should have an option to start automatically.
Bye

80035 2002-09-16 10:36:00 It helps if you tell us what application you don't want auto-starting.

Most programs have an option within their Tools settings to disable auto-starting, this is the first place to look.

With a bit more information you could possibly get a more specific answer.

80036 2002-09-16 11:03:00 Thanks Peter, couldnt remember. The closest thing to it in Win95 would be Sysedit then but that doesnt show registry items.

Pickrick, there are no less than 9 different places that a program can be automatically started from. The easiest one to see is the Startup folder under Start-Program Files-Startup.

I wont bother going through all 9, but rather see this link here and download Startup Manager.

Using this program you can just select the various tabs and uncheck the programs you dont want started by clicking on the item then the Exclude button.

I believe it is best to see if the offending program has an option to disable from autostarting before using Startup Manager. This ensures no adverse effect on the program.

80038 2002-09-16 21:39:00 If you have access to a PC with Win98 copy msconfig onto a floppy disk and put in onto your PC in the C:\Windows\command folder.

Then run it from Start - Run

This will give you all the programs loading at startup. Just untick the one you don't want.

80039 2002-09-16 22:59:00 Hi. Have a look in your autoexec.bat file under C, in Windows Explorer. If it's there it can easily be edited, but make a backup copy of the file first. Greg S (201)
80040 2002-09-17 01:04:00 Grab a copy of Startup Control Panel (www.mlin.net).

It adds a Startup entry to your control panel. Although some programmes, eg realplayer will need to be disabled in their settings otherwise they will keep adding themselves.
