| 80604 | 2002-09-18 05:50:00 | Is there any such thing? I have often wondered what my motherboard was, but have seldom dared to open the case. Even if I did, what guarantee would there be of me coming up with the right alpha numeric identifier? Also, for a long time now I have been overclocking a glorified 486 which originally had 16Mb RAM and 200Mb HD. Now it is an AMD equivalent to a Pentium 1 with all sorts of diagnostics & programmes, yet running sweetly on 64Mb RAM and a partitioned 4 Gb HD. Original OS was Win 3.1. Now Win 98 SE. Diagnostics I have show the 100Mhz CPU is always at 100%. On boot up, the black screen doesn't stay in place long enough to write down whatever alpha numeric identifier that goes alonside the colourful logo that's there. I'm sure I need a new motherboard and CPU but do not know what to ask for. ?:| |
