80479 2002-09-17 22:45:00 I have two unresolved issues.

1. I would like to be able to create a shortcut to Windows Explorer on my desktop (why on earth did Microsoft change it from File Manager, so confusing having MS Explorer and Win Explorer!). At the moment I need to right click on the start button, then click Explore. I find the is the best way to load new software and manage files.

2. Whilst in Win Explorer, why do I have two complete copies of my files. I have My Documents on the "Local Disk (C:)" Plus they are duplicated under the Desktop tree. I also note some individual files are NOT duplicated on the Desktop tree. Seems weird to double up.

And is there a way to have Win Explorer open to default folder trees I select?

80480 2002-09-17 23:34:00 Click [url=http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q130510&] here [/url for the "switches" you can use to control how explorer displays.

Assuming you use XP (???) you can go Start-All Programs-Accessories-Right click on "Windows Explorer" and choose "Send To" and select Desktop as Shortcut.

That will put a permanent shortcut on your desktop.

Right click on the shortcut, select "Properties" and append the "switches" described in the link above to the "explorer.exe" in the Target field.

Mine is: %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e

Try Power Desk. This is what Explorer should have been.
