80345 2002-09-17 09:38:00 Running Windows xp home on a new PC. During the Boot up process it has started to "Hang" for about 4 minutes before continuing to load xp (where the logo is and the green bar slides across the screen). It hangs before this point, at which time you can see the DOS info regarding the Blaster etc......

After booting, when looking at MY COMPUTER, My hard drive letter is missing (c), and the two optical drives, D, and E are not present. The only letter or drive that is present is the floppy - A drive.

The cd tray does not open on one drive, and when trying to play a music cd on the writer, it tells me that No media is inserted.

I believe there may be a CMOS issue as windows cannot seem to locate the drives to display. Maybe during the slow boot up, the POST had a problem and could not find those drives, but if it did not find "C", then how the heck does the disk still work to load an operating system??

Really strange....this is a brand new pc!!!

Any thoughts out there??

Cheers
