80416 2002-09-18 12:42:00 Your system looks ok to me beats mine by the far my system is a AMD thunder bird 1 gig running at 1.5 megahertz with 2 x 15 maxtor s in raid 0 768 megs of sd 133 ram and a geforce 3 card , with a abit kt7 raid M/Board . plus 21 monitor .
I Still run 98 sec edition leaner than XP,l better for the old games and i learnt my lesson after Windows ME dont upgrade if you are happy with your present system stay with it , I use about 10 or so programs to clean out and maintain it in peak running condition Fix-It Diskeeper Goback , norton 2002 AV , zonealarm pro , Guard IE , ad-aware , Pestpatrol , webwasher , reg cleaner , washand go ,activeprivacy, etc .
Your weakess link is the video card and if you want speedier access to your mp3s split them up into smaller folders weed out those you dont like as much burn to cd and wipe themoff the HDD.

80417 2002-09-19 15:18:00 I have a question for all you guys with a Asus P4S533 m/b.
I have recently bought one of those m/b,s and when I crank up the
cpu voltage in the bios and select the highest or second to highest
voltage and then boot up ,the hardware monitor comes up with a cpu
voltage error and stops booting.I can press F1 to ignore but I will have to do this everytime, even if I push delete to go back into the bios and I change the cpu voltage to default ,the hardware monitor still comes up with an error when I boot up again, even though the voltage is at default.
If I then push F1 to ignore,to boot up ,the next time I boot up it is ok.
I don, t think this m/b is working quite the way it should be, just wondering if you guys have the same problem?

80419 2002-09-20 01:21:00 Sounds like an overclocking attempt gone bad... sorry dude, but take it back to where you bought it from and keep it at default... act as if you don't know anything about "bios" settings, and get them to fix it...

If you tell them you tried to oc it, then you will more than likely have voided any warranty on your mobo...

80420 2002-09-20 02:39:00 Thanks for replying Lohsing,I take it by what you say that yours does not do this.
The m/b is advertised as an overclockers board ,so I don,t think overclocking will void the warranty.......the cpu ,maybe.
It actually works fine but for that little problem and will infact
overclock a P4 1.8Ghz to 2.5Ghz no problem,I just don,t want to have to
push F1 everytime I boot up. ?:| ;)

80421 2002-09-20 03:43:00 You SURE about being able to overclock a P4 1.8Ghz to 2.5Ghz?? Read a review of the chip here (www.ocaddiction.com).

I was under the impression that even though it SAYS it is good for overclocking (mobo that is), doing so usually voids the warranty, so best to check before you start playing around... I use CTech PC and they are cool with me opening up my case and playing around with components, but only because I have checked with them first and they know I can do that sort of thing...

Yeah, the mobo isn't supposed to act the way you've described it to act... ever try using the "Restore Defaults" in the bios settings??
